Slide - Character Design

The first character design for a campaign idea for an animated series called "Blats!" The series would revolve around a group of 5 young friends, Slide, Bounce, Adore, Wink and Jam, whom all have a tendency to rebel against the norms or their society. The show would have a slightly wacky atmosphere which gradually turns more emotional and thought-provoking. Their species are all born with an organ that grows out the top of their heads, known as blats. Their blat changes appearance as they grow and is influenced by an their experiences, environment and especially their developing passion(s). Slide, however, was born with a condition that inhibits his blat to develop, which has caused him to be somewhat looked down upon and pitied. He had someone in his city create something to wear over his underdeveloped blat, which he calls a "have-no-blat", Hat for short. (Hats do not exist in the IP)
